Jeyla Hall, Mentee

Ms.Adaobi, the true definition of super woman. She takes on many responsibilities, but one thing I can say, is that my peers and I always felt like we were one of her primary focuses when it came to caring and looking over us. I’ve known her since the 6th grade, basically since when I was about 11 years old at my school. Fortunately she was my student life counselor for all of the 7 years that i’ve attended my school, and during those 7 years I’ve learned so much and matured greatly because of her. When I was in middle school, I remember me being a reserved and unconfident girl, who struggled with their self-identity. Of course, that didn’t last for too long, because Ms.Adaobi, who constantly made me realize my worth and took me under her wing to ensure that I would be okay. It also helped that we relate on many topics so it made it easier to talk to her about my problems. But, not only did she take me under her wing, she also watched over people that she had almost nothing in common with and who came from different backgrounds, all because it was in her nature to look over and help people. Even till now, she has always been like a second mother to me and would be quick to help any and everyone who were in distress, or just simply gave advice to people, which of course went a long way and that’s the one thing that has drawn me to her. She has a welcoming aura and fun personality that draws everyone to her, which I believe makes her a wonderful mentor. I would say that I recommend her services, but this isn’t a “service”, it’s more than just a job to her, so I would recommend everyone to take her in ad their mentor.

Talia Ridley, Mentee

I am Talia Ridley, who just recently graduated HighSchool from the Seed School Of Maryland. I have known Ms. Adaboi for 7 years and it has been a blessing to know her for myself and to grow under her as my Student life counselor. The biggest thing that I can take away during our time together is how she has been & still is there for me and gives one of the best advice no matter what the situation that may occur. Ms. Adaboi has been one of the people who has help me to be the beautiful young lady that I am today and for that I am forever grateful. A most impactful moment that i’ll never forget is that there was a time when I was going through a rough time at home having family issues and it was so bad that I had a nervous breakdown and she stood by me the whole night. Whenever I needed her she was right there, never missed a beat.  One of my favorite memory is when she would always encourage me to be better & do better for myself. After knowing her for 7 years it has been absolutely amazing and I would definitely do it all over again. Ms. Adaboi would be a great mentor to anyone that may come in contact with her. I highly recommend her as a mentor.

Kylah Smith, Mentee

Most people have to walk throughout life with only the guidance of their family members. I; however, was looking enough to have another mentor; Ms. Adoabi. There was a time in my life where I was mentally exhausted, I was consumed by darkness. During this time, I can recall Ms. Adoabi cheerfully sitting me down and trying to understand me. She didn’t give me any looks of pity or judgement. She filled my once dark aura with light and positivity and for that I will always thank her. Ms. Adoabi is way more than a “mentor” or  a “counselor” to me. She is literally a lifesaver, she played a major part in saving my life and many others can attest to this. No matter if I needed a shoulder to cry on, help with something in my personal life, or just someone to talk to, she was there. If you get the opportunity to be in her presence and be a mentee of hers you are truly lucky. I would 10/10 recommend anyone to be mentored by Ms. Adoabi. Especially if you are in need of some guidance or just someone who will be truly willing to understand you.
